Continuing development and market opportunities
Current development has focused on email-tailored prediction and compression techniques to produce an application for existing mobile devices. We are now developing a range of techniques which will offer further improvements to the prediction and broaden language domain coverage.
We believe this technology has great potential across a wide range of devices:
- conventional mobile devices
- touch-screen mobile devices
- ultra mobile laptops
- tablet (touch-screen) PCs
- touch-screen televisions
As well as appealing to existing users, we believe our text input solution will be attractive to those currently put off typing or using mobiles due to their complexity and small buttons.
Accessibility
This has led us to consider a separate application focussed on users with reduced mobility or visibility who are unable to use existing devices. This accessibility market has wide opportunity, with the challenge to develop a broad spectrum of tailored solutions for users with significantly differing mobility constraints; from the elderly, all the way through to those with severe disabilities such as motor-neuron disease.
Education
Our software produces grammatically sound text and helps a user with a basic language ability to construct 'correct' sentences. This knowledge of language had two key applications:
- In an educational setting we believe our system could help those learning to use grammar and construct sentences for the first time.
- A similar application, this time focused on foreign learners, could help individuals develop greater confidence in a new language.
