Responsibilities
Internal Systems and Infrastructure
- Internet service provider management (BT, WiMax)
- Performance monitoring, correction, service level maintenance
- Ordering, maintaining servers, laptops and other computer equipment
- Sourcing and providing appropriately licensed software
- Software and document security – antivirus, firewalls, encryption etc
- Ensuring access for remote working
- E-mail system
- Continuous Integration servers
External Systems and Infrastructure
- Management of DNS and supplier
- Hosted server management, Aethernet & Amazon relationships, language and personalisation servers, Delos, Heroditus
- Commercial systems – provision of service, not content. UserVoice, VIP Forum, TouchType/SwiftKey websites – monitoring availability and performance.
Data and services
- Management of shared doc/data space – Googledocs, Dropbox, e-mail lists
- Ownership of external accounts, and management of usernames AND passwords Google, Github, artifactory, codility, Atlasian etc
- Ownership/management of loan/test phones and tablets
- Disaster recovery strategy, back-up strategy
Nice to Haves
Any knowledge of Web site construction, content management systems, large scale database/data warehouse systems, scalable server configurations and load balancing technologies. Web programming/scripting. Automated deployment, monitoring and scaling. Testing and automated test frameworks.

These technologies are not essential (and not necessarily what we will use) but the successful candidate is likely to have experience of the following, or equivalent:
- Platforms: Linux, Windows, Mac
- Automation: Puppet, Capistrano, Chef
- Monitoring: Airbrake, New Relic
- Continuous Integration: Hudson, Jenkins
